Digitally Romanian birth certificates

April marked the implementation of the Integrated Information System for the Issuance of Civil Status Documents (SIIEASC). The Ministry of the Interior reports that this system has been subsequently expanded to encompass “334 interconnected administrative-territorial units” at present.

At present, individuals seeking a civil status certificate (such as a death or birth certificate) must visit the civil status office and submit the required documentation, including an application for issuance. The certificate can be obtained in two formats: digital (including a physical copy printed on a secure form) or digital (requiring the applicant to provide an email address to the civil status officer). The specific format chosen by the citizen or holder is irrelevant to the process.

The ongoing phased expansion of the Integrated Information System necessitates the interconnection of 3,188 administrative-territorial entities; as a result, the platform intended to exclusively deliver online services to the public is presently inaccessible.

The nationwide roll-out of the Information System is scheduled for completion on 24 September 2024.
